Episode 72: From Biochem to Balance: Navigating Medical School Without Losing Yourself

I was recently asked to speak at my med school back in Grenada, which was a full-circle moment. I of course said yes. I wondered, “What would I have needed to hear at that stage?”

I reflected on my own journey from med school to becoming an attending. Starting out as a busy medical student, to residency and fellowship, and then practicing medicine while learning a sense of balance by prioritizing myself and a balanced lifestyle.

It’s been a ride. I think my biggest takeaway from this journey down memory lane is that I’ve always found ways to fill my cup. It is why I am a good doctor. It’s why I don’t feel bad for prioritizing vacations. I built this life so I can not only be the best for me but for my patients.

Tune in to hear how I have done this over the years, throughout med school to now.
