Episode 63: Redefining Success and Self-Care: A Call for Change in Medicine Culture
This week I share a story about a retail pharmacist who after years of being praised for putting others before herself, died at her CVS retail job.
It was so engrained to make sure work was handled before taking care of her own health, that she delayed her own care. I examine my own journey through training and highlight all the ways I was taught to de-prioritize myself. I talk about how I used negotiation to unlearn these helpful patterns, and how we can use it as a tool to shift the culture of medicine.
Negotiation is more than a one-time event. It is the gradual shaping of your life to promote the best outcome. Tune in to learn how negotiation can reshape your life.
