Episode 96: Retiring My Cape: Choosing Liberation

Hey y'all, I skipped last week's episode because I needed time to process everything— this recent election has left a lot of us with some heavy emotions.

In this episode, I'm talking about the anger, frustration, and deep need for self-preservation that many of us, especially in the Black physician community, are feeling right now. The erosion of federal policies is adding more pressure to our already demanding roles.

But I also want to acknowledge my own privilege in this conversation—I can be in this mindset because I’ve negotiated for more time freedom and autonomy in my career. I’ve created the ability to be picky about how, when, and with whom I work, and that privilege allows me to prioritize my well-being.

I want this for you too. It's time we all re-establish our autonomy, negotiate our boundaries, and get what we need to thrive despite whatever systemic challenges are on the horizon.
