Episode 66: Being A ‘Team Player” is Toxic

Be wary of terms like “team player” and “above and beyond”. 

The same words employers use to praise you, they’ll use to criticize.  When you refuse to do what they want, take work home, do unpaid tasks, they’ll weaponize these terms to attack your character. Creating my own measures for success meant I could see this strategy for what it was: a faulty negotiation tactic.
